The seminar organized by the Panhellenic Association for the Support of People with Obesity, “Imeroessa,” titled “Learning Through Play with Imeroessa on Childhood Obesity,” was successfully completed on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the event hall of the Philoptochos Brotherhood of Men in Thessaloniki.

The objective of this seminar was to raise awareness among parents and children about childhood obesity and to inform them about the harmful effects of the disease.

The seminar was sponsored by the Ministry of Interior, Macedonian and Thracian Sector, under the “StiriZO” program. The event was attended by several notable figures, including Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, Deputy Minister of Interior for Macedonian-Thracia Affairs, Ms. Melina-Maria Dermetzopoulou, Deputy Regional Governor for Health, and Mr. Nikolaos Zeibekis, Deputy Mayor for Volunteering, Sports, and Youth of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

The President of the Imeroessa Association, Ms. Kiki Tsiranidou, chaired the seminar, and members of the association addressed critical issues related to childhood obesity. Specifically, psychologist Ms. Olympia Kalambaliki gave a detailed presentation on proper nutrition and exercise, providing useful dietary tips. Psychologist-psychotherapist Ms. Zoe Karambasiadou focused on body shaming and bullying, particularly during childhood and adolescence.

Following the speeches, the children had the opportunity to play “The Healthy Eating Snakes and Ladders” game. The goal of the game was to help children learn useful information about proper nutrition and healthy vs. unhealthy foods, while also allowing them to have fun and enjoy the activity.

AIDA managed the entire organization of the seminar, receiving commendations for the high quality of its services.
